Why we created My Expense Keeper
The idea of making this app (My Expense Keeper) risen because of my own need.
I always found myself not able to save much money and wonder where my money was spent. I have a rough idea on how much I spend on some areas (mortgage, car, tax, etc.), but not clear about the details of where I am spending most of my money, so as to me aware of which way I should go if I need to save more money.
Nowadays we spend money in a lot of places (retail shop, restaurant, clinic, market, online, etc) and pay with many different instruments (cash, credit card, bank transfers, digital wallet). We got the receipts (or invoices) from the seller via many communication channels (email, digital wallet app, hard copy, and even hand written, etc.). Some products I bought include a warranty card which I always not able to find them when needed.
So I think it can help me to keep track of my spending information if I can have an app that let me to enter my expenses, with photos (receipt, the product I bought, warranty card, etc.). The interface should be simple enough, but provide me with flexibility in defining the expense categories, payment channel and shop name, so that I can view the summary of my expenses when needed.
Ideally, the app should able to help me fill in most of the information from the receipt photo taken, so that I don’t need to input all information manually. But I want to put it out first, and build those features gradually.
